Windows 7 Pops Performance Options upon logon and cannot create/change pagefile options.

Symptoms:
Upon logon Windows 7 brings up Performance options
Gives Error code “Windows Is creating a temporary page file because your pagefile options are invalid or corrupt.”
Cannot create a pagefile or change the pagefile (virtual memory) options.

Cause:
ASF.sys (Audio File System) is automatically loading and mounting an invalid empty file system causing windows to fail creating or managing any type of pagefile.

Fix:
1.       Expand fresh copy of ASF.sys into %systemroot%\system32 from installation CD.
2.       Restart system.
If step one does not fix follow steps three through six.
3.       Click on the start menu pearl and type CMD
4.       Right-click on CMD on the top and “Run as Administrator
5.       Type the following Command exactly as in the quotes. “sc config afs start= disabled
6.       Restart the system.
