“Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported”. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol please follow the following:

1.      Go to ::     C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Media\11.0

2.      Rename the directory 11.0 as 11.0_old

3.      Restart the media player.
