We have encountered this issue several times where the
customers have reported getting "STService.exe unable to locate component.
This application has failed to start because STlog.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem." at startup.
Uninstalling Dell
DataSafe Local Backup or disabling it from startup can be the possible
work-arounds. However, not all customers would agree with removal of the
program.
These steps can be tried:
- Find "Dell DataSafe Local Backup" within your
Program Files (for me, this was under: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell
DataSafe Local Backup")
- Locate the file STLog.dll in this directory
- Copy the file - and I hasten to repeat, COPY it (do not
move or cut the file, as this will cause many more issues)
- Find the Scheduler folder (for me, this was under:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell DataSafe Local
Backup\Components\scheduler"
- Paste the file in to this directory
Apart from STLog.dll, also copy these dll files:
CSTError.dll
STString.dll
STXml.dll
STStringArray.dll
LibXml2.dll
zlib1.dll
STFiles.dll
STRegistry.dll
STPE.dll
STNLS.dll
STSystems.dll

Note: Steps are only valid if the DVD is getting detected in DVD drive.
