Office 2010 Upgrade Process

Here are the links to get to the Microsoft Office 2010 upgrade for your copy of Office 2007.

Click on the link below to access Dell’s Office 2010 upgrade web page.  Select the “Upgrade to Office 2010” tab on the page.  Then click on the link beneath “Step 3: Download Office 2010”.

Next, click on the green “Upgrade now” button on the page.   Answer the upgrade eligibility questions presented on the page.  You will need your Product ID for your Microsoft Office 2007 to complete the form.  NOTE: Your Product ID is different from your Product Key for your MS Office 2007.  The Product ID has the format: XXXXX – XXX – XXXXXXX – XXXXX.

In most cases you will select the first option – “I need to find my Product ID for an Office Suite”.

Depending on which version of Office 2007 you are upgrading, you will be sent to a web page with the unique Product Key for your copy of the MS Office 2010 upgrade.  Either print this page or record the Product Key because you will need it during the installation of your Office 2010 upgrade.  On the page with the Product Key you will have buttons to download Office 2010 and Office 2010 Business Contacts Manager* (BCM) to your system. (*If your copy of Office 2007 came with BCM.) 

During this download process you will be given the opportunity to purchase a CD with Office 2010 on it for around $14.00.  You can still download your copy of Office 2010 if you choose to have the copy on CD sent to you.  The file you download for the Office 2010 upgrade can be burned to a CD after the download is complete. 

You can also go ahead and install the MS Office 2010 upgrade on your system and still make a backup copy of the downloaded program on CD.

Once the download is complete, double-click on the file that was downloaded and insert the Product Key when prompted.  Then follow the onscreen instructions to complete your installation of your Office 2010 upgrade.
