New
system will not connect to pre-existing cable modem at user’s location.
User replaced the system, and new system will not connect to known good cable
modem.
Steps
to resolve:
1. Power system off
2. Disconnect cables from Cable
Modem (Both Cat 5 and Co-Axial)
3. Disconnect power from Cable
Modem
4. Wait 3 minutes
5. Connect power to the Cable
Modem, wait a minute for the Cable Modem to reset
6. Connect cables to cable modem
7. Power on system
8. Test internet connection
This
process scrubs the MAC address data from the cable modem and allows the Mew MAC
address of the system to be detected.
