Dell 1502 wireless card may exhibit weak signal strength and/or failure to connect to a wireless network

Ø  The Dell 1502 wireless card may exhibit weak signal strength and/or failure to connect to a wireless network

Ø  Ensure the wireless antennae are connected to the system

Ø  Perform the following steps

q  Open Device Manager

q  Expand Network Adapters, right click the wireless card and choose Properties

q  Click the Advanced tab and make the following changes

ü  Disable 802.11b Preamble to Long

ü  Change Receive Buffers to 300

ü  Change Transmit Buffers to 500

q  Click the Power management tab

ü  Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

q  Open Power Options

ü  Click Change plan settings for the selected power profile

ü  Click Change advanced power settings

ü  Under Wireless Adapter Settings , click Power Saving Mode and change the settings to Maximum Performance

q  Open the router page

ü  Change router channel to 6

ü  Change CTS Protection Type from CTS Only to RTS_CTS
