Intel 1030 wireless card can exhibit weak signal strength, intermittent connection drops and/or failure to connect to a wireless network


Ø  The Intel 1030 wireless card can exhibit weak signal strength, intermittent connection drops and/or failure to connect to a wireless network
Ø  Perform the following steps to rectify the issue
q  Open Device Manager
q  Expand Network Adapters, right click the wireless card and choose Properties
q  Click the Advanced tab and make the following changes
ü  Disable 802.11n Mode
ü  Change Ad Hoc Channel 802.11b/g to 6
ü  Change Ad Hoc QoS Mode to WMM Enabled
ü  Change Mixed Mode Protection to RTS/CTS Enabled
ü  Change Roaming Aggressiveness to Highest
ü  Change Transmit Power to Highest
q  Click the Power management tab
ü  Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
q  Open Power Options
ü  Click Change plan settings for the selected power profile
ü  Click Change advanced power settings
ü  Under Wireless Adapter Settings , click Power Saving Mode and change the settings to Maximum Performance
q  Open the router page
ü  Change router channel to 6
ü  Change CTS Protection Type from CTS Only to RTS_CTS
