Got
an issue where the system was not going to sleep mode automatically post
Windows 8.1 Upgrade. Putting the system in sleep mode manually works fine with
normal behavior with wakeup time and other power settings. After performing all
the standard troubleshooting (Power Settings, Chipset, BIOS, Checking PowerCFG
reports with different switches, Home-group settings, Media Sharing on Network)
what took care of the issue was disabling ipV6. Please follow the steps
mentioned on the MS KB Article on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852
in order to disable ipV6.
NOTE
: Disabling ipV6 will not have any effect on the network connectivity as the
communication over all the namespace for a generic network happens over ipV4.
The same issue was observed with Windows 8.1 Preview as well.
