Windows 8 System not booting to WIndows

If Pre Boot System Assessment PSA passes in that case we can try the below mentioned steps.

These issues are happening due to incorrect BIOS/UEFI/Secure Boot settings.

I've personally tied this on the following systems. See if these help you out. You'll find these options in the BOOT tab of the BIOS.

5423 - UEFI Enabled, Secure Boot Disabled
3520 - UEFI enabled, Secure Boot Enabled
7520 - Legacy BIOS Enabled

Note that the training site BIOS sims do not show you these options. Attaching a screen shot which should give a rudimentary idea of what the options look like.
-------------------------------
Note that in certain cases you may not be able to change Boot List Options from UEFI to Legacy. To do so:
  • Make sure Secure Boot is disabled
    • If Secure Boot is grayed out and you are unable to change the settings, make sure the Load Legacy Boot ROM option is Disabled

Desktop IE (W8) Internet Explorer not be able to connect to the internet

Issue Description: Desktop Internet Explorer does not connect to the internet while Windows UI works fine. Other browsers work fine too.
Perform the following steps:

  • Confirm Desktop IE works fine in Safe Mode
  • Uninstall any security software installed and disable Windows Firewall/Microsoft Security Essentials
  • Reset IE including personal settings (Favorites will NOT be deleted by this)
  • Confirm no 3rd Party add-on is causing the issue by running IE without add-ons.
  • Bring up Run
  • Type iexplore -extoff
  • Check connectivity
  • Delete the contents of the install.ins file
  • Launch Notepad in Admin mode
  • Open C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Signup\install.ins
  • Delete everything which is written below [URL]
  • Save changes
  • Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\Signup\install.ins
  • Delete everything which is written below [URL]
  • Save changes
  • Reset Internet Explorer

If these steps don't work, try using 32 Bit Internet Explorer instead of 64 Bit. Else, try creating a new user account. If no go, refresh the system. This will not delete any user files or Windows UI apps but will remove any desktop apps the customer has installed.

Beep sound while Shutting down XPS 8500

Issue : Beep sound while Shutting down XPS 8500

Discussion : The sound is produced by the video card when it senses that it's "underpowered"; apparently, video cards receive their current on slight delay from other devices on the motherboard, but many also receive power from the psu - so when you shut-down, there's a brief under-powered moment to the video card which causes the beep on shutdown.
Beep on shutdown will not cause any issues.

Unable to open websites while in normal mode | Potential fix

With regard to the issues we are facing where we are able to open websites in Safe Mode but not in Normal Mode while DellConnect works fine in both modes, try the following steps (in addition to the standard steps like disabling firewall, disabling Stage Remote etc.):

Uninstall Internet Explorer 9 and reboot the system
Launch Notepad in Admin mode
Open C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Signup\install.ins
Delete everything which is written below [URL]
Save changes
Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\Signup\install.ins
Delete everything which is written below [URL]
Save changes
Reset Internet Explorer
Temporarily change home page to about:blank
Launch Internet Explorer
In the Internet Explorer first-run wizard, choose to Turn off Suggested Sites
On the next screen, choose Use Express Settings
Close and restart Internet Explorer and check

I believe that the OEM customizations made in the install.ins file are creating certain conflicts resulting in the issue, though I haven’t been able to figure out what. I had two cases today with the same symptoms and performing the above steps fixed them.
